Long-term planning. Sustainable growth. For many years now, these two elements have been integral to DBAG's success. Whether or not we are actually successful only becomes apparent when we sell the companies we have invested in. At this point it becomes clear how much they have grown, improved their structures, and expanded their range of services. During 2020/2021, we successfully agreed on or concluded the sale of four companies in which we had held an interest for between four and eight years. Disposal proceeds have contributed to what has been a very successful financial year – in terms of consolidated net income, 2020/2021 has been our best year since we switched to IFRS accounting 16 years ago.

Long-term planning. Sustainable growth. This also applies to our investment strategy. During the financial year under review, we have started to reap the benefits of gradually broadening our investment focus over the past decade. Once again, we are benefiting from the diversity of the business models across our portfolio: companies from the growth sectors, in particular, are seeing better operating performance, while the industrial portfolio continues to offer catch-up potential in the face of volatile supply chains and higher raw materials prices.

Long-term planning. Sustainable growth. Thanks to DBAG's successful capital increase, we now have considerably more financial room for manoeuvre when it comes to future investment opportunities. We have continued to strengthen our investment team and, after lengthy preparations, we have opened an office in Milan as a base from which to invest in Italy. All of these elements will allow us to secure value-oriented growth into 2022 and beyond.
